Search for the Figures (STEM interested females 13+) - https://searchforhiddenfigures.com/the-search-for-hidden-figures/ - Deadline- Dec. 10th – Must have an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and be able to answer 2 questions (300 words or less each). Easy to complete scholarship w/ multiple prizes: Semi-Final Winners (50)- 4 tickets to the movie Hidden Figures, admittance to the Junior Academy of Science and material from The Junior Academy of Science Boot Camp; Runner-Ups (10)- $10,000 scholarships plus semi-final winter prizes; Grand Prize (2) $30,000 scholarship plus semi-final winner prizes.

Things to consider when writing your essay are- why is going green in the home important, what are some of the best ways to make a home more green, what are some of the best alternatives to use in the home and what are some unique ideas/alternatives to go green in the home. Answers are graded based on creativity, originality, quality and relevance towards green home improvement innovations. Winner receives a $1,000 scholarship.

Unigo 10K Scholarship- (13 yrs. +)https://www.unigo.com/scholarships/our-scholarships/unigo-10k-scholarship  Due 12/31-Amount: 10,000- Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the question:
"What would you say to someone who thinks education doesn't matter, or that college is a waste of time and money? "

"Create a Top Ten List of the top ten reasons you should get this scholarship."

 

Poetry Card Contest-http://www.sps.com/poetry/ - Due 12/31- Amount: Up to $300-You must submit an original poem on a topic of your choice in order to be considered for this award.

Story of the Year Contest- http://storyshares.org/contest -- Due 12/31- Amount: $3,000- You must submit an original story of between 1,000 and 10,000 words in one of the following categories: Diversity, Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Horror/Suspense or Teens by Teens in order to be considered for this award.

 

1,000 Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship- http://www.genkellyscholarship.com/ - (9-12 grades) - Short application form with general information (name age grade in school mailing and email addresses), Short answer essay (250 words or less) - Why do you deserve to win this scholarship OR Describe your academic or career goals OR Any topic of your choice. Award amount- $1,000

2016-2017 Young Patriots Essay Contest- (Middle and High School Students) - http://debate-central.ncpa.org/yp-17/ - Deadline- Jan. 3, 2017- Read two short required readings about trade and economics. Then write an essay (no more than 1,200 words) about this year’s theme: Are international free trade agreements in the best interest of the United States? Why or why not? Three winners are chosen for $9,000 in scholarships money.

 

Student Cam 2017- (Middle and High School Students) - www.studentcam.org – Deadline- January 20, 2017- This year’s theme is “Your Message to Washington” – What is the most urgent issue for the new president and Congress to address in 2017? Can compete individually or in a group up to 3 people. Create a documentary video 5-7 minutes in length (also include credits or a woks cited page) that includes C-Span video that relates to your chosen topic. Cash prizes totaling $100,000 are given to 150 student documentaries.

 

Technology Addiction Awareness Scholarship- (High School Students or Current College Students)- http://www.digitalresponsibility.org/technology-addiction-awareness-scholarship - Deadline- Jan. 30,2017- Complete the form and write 140 character statement that completes this sentence – Instead of spending time with technology, I’d rather…..  – 10 finalists are chosen who then write a short essay (500-1,000 words) based off of what they put in the statement. Winner receives 1,000.

 

Association for Women in Mathematics Essay contest- (Grades 6-8, 9-12 and College Undergraduates- note open to males and females)- https://sites.google.com/site/awmmath/programs/essay-contest - Deadline Jan. 31 each year (if you need matched with a women in science to interview that must be done by Jan. 10)- The goal is for students to interview women in math and increase awareness of women’s ongoing contributions in mathematics. Suggestions for people to interview-female math teachers, female college professors in the math departments (also can include computer science, statistics, physics, engineering, finance etc.). Suggestions for questions- What motivated the interviewee to pursue a career in math sciences, what kind of work does she do? What is her education, family and cultural background, does she have any advice for students interested in pursuing mathematical science careers, etc. For a full list of what is required check out the website- The winners (including honorable mentions) receive a monetary prize, a membership in the Association of Women in Mathematics, a certificate, and their name and affiliation published in the Newsletter for the AWM.  In addition, all of the essays are published online and the Grand Prize winner‘s essay is published in the newsletter.

Sweet and Simple Scholarship- (13 yrs. +) - https://www.unigo.com/scholarships/our-scholarships/sweet-and-simple-scholarship - Deadline Feb. 28, 2017- Award Amount- $1,500- Write a 250 words or less response for the following: “Not every gift has to be expensive or extravagant. In fact, sometimes it’s the sweet and simple things that make a real difference in our lives. Think back and tell us about something you received as a gift and why it meant so much to you.

 

We the Students Essay Contest- (high school students between the ages 14-19) - Deadline Feb. 5, 2017 http://www.billofrightsinstitute.org/engage/students-programs-events/scholarship/ - Must submit online to the website and answer all questions completely. Grand Prize- $5,000 plus a scholarships to Constitutional Academy, Runners up (6) - $1,250 scholarship each, Honorable Mention (8) - $500 scholarships each. Other student incentives include: Refer a friend (10 randomly drawn winners) - $50 prize; 10 Random Submission drawings - $500 each.

National Peer Tutor Scholarship (Middle and High School Students)- Deadline March 1, 2017\- http://www.nationalscholarfoundation.org/scholarship.html - The National Peer Tutor Scholarship Program recognizes and rewards the work of outstanding middle and high school peer tutors. Peer tutors across the nation can apply for the opportunity to earn a college scholarship as well as the title "National Peer Tutor of the Year" for their efforts to provide academic support to their peers. Awards- National Peer Tutor of the Year- $1,000 and 4 national Peer Tutor of the Year Finalists - $250.
